Thank you! I’ll fix this and other typos in the demo when I upload the full version as well. In the future, though, please use the google form linked on the page that was made specifically for reporting bugs and so on. You can find it right above the comment section and [download] buttons.
Oh man, I really loved this!! It's always fun playing through a story that really lets you choose how you want to interact with the world- deciding the dynamic of relationships with people like Notre were some of my favourite moments. :3 also RAHHHHH the sword twins.... normal about them.
Happy to hear that! :D And I hope the choices offered will continue to be enjoyable in the remainder of the game as well because gods know all the variables I added kicked my ass to hell and back x’D
i have been waiting for this to be completed for more than 2 years and im SO happy its in its wrapping up stages. this is the kind of game whose demo still has me thinking about it late at night like some kind for star-crossed lover. so excited to play it.
Me too asdsada! I always feel bad for not being able to write and code faster, but I have a limited amount of free time I can spend on that. :( Still, the script is mostly done, save for the epilogues, so the game should be uploaded here within a month or so. Hope you enjoy!
It'd be an understatement to say I love this game. I can't wait for it to be completed so I can play it over and over again. Though if I might ask, for the full game, what'll be the estimated price, if there's one? Sorry for asking, as I'm sure this game is worth it's price if not more, but I'm unfortunately on a budget.
My favorites are Lotár and Malitiose, I'm so glad choosing Lotár in the beginning didn't lock me out of Mal's route, since I adore him so much. D'you, perhaps, have a personal favorite among your characters (from this game) as well? I'd love to hear it from the creator~
Lotar and Malitiose are one of the two Love Traingles in-game, so you can unlock their LT route, or solo routes, as both have different contents through the game. If you don't want to make Mal cry, I'd recommend doing the solo. ;)
Hmm, it’s hard to pick just one because they are all fun to write, but I am definitely partial to Saltire for two reasons:
1. I’ve given them part of the backstory of my old Pathfinder OC haha, I really love the Fey realm and stuff like that, so even if a lot of info never made it to the game, working on the backstories and settings for Saltire was the most pleasant for me.
2. Saltire’s type is someone who, due to their upbringing and experience, could easily be one of the most evil-aligned companions, but simply CHOSES not to be, chooses to exercise kindness even when it’s foolish, which I always wanted to write as I find it particularly interesting.
Don’t be sorry, I gotcha and I totally feel you. Like I stated on the main page in the info section, the finished game will be around $5 (plus whatever tax itch has on top, though that depends on the country as far as I am aware), but I’ll do a giveaway as well (on Tumblr), as I always do to celebrate a full release, so there will be a chance to win a few keys there.
Despite a few annoyances, it's a brilliant game, and I'd love to add it to my collection.
But I only buy games on Steam.
(Ignoring the fact that paypal and other online payment methods is stuck in limbo where I can't reach, use or change them.... I don't really trust itch to stay alive forever like Steam just might.)
Like I said in the Cursed Place comment section, due to the cost, the additional percentage fee for people from outside of the USA, and taxes involved on my side, I am currently in no position to publish my games on Steam.
I've officially played this demo every way possible and I can't wait for the full release! Please tell me it's soon or I may die of impatience lol Huge shout out to the creator!! You're awesome!!
I’m finishing the last half of the last chapter right now (a lot of variables to tackle, so it’s taking a while), it shouldn’t take long unless I get busy with IRL stuff tho. Thank you! 😘
Your writing is absolutely beautiful without being overly descriptive (I get easily frustrated when I have to read a page long description about the environment XD). The setting and rules of this world were also easily digested. It feels very natural, unlike some stories I've read where I have to read an encyclopedia article before I can move on with the story.
The whole time I was reading I was so tensed up! You've truly managed to create a foreboding atmosphere and extremely interesting characters. I love them all, also I am suspicious of every single person I come across :(. I don't know why but that fork-tongue demon slithered his way into my heart, I hate him (I love him).
All the choices you can make in the game also feel impactful, even if they tie back into the main story. It makes each playthrough feel different. I have checked out your other games too and they all definitely feel unique to your brand, even if they deal with different subjects. Anyways, sorry for rambling. I just want to say that I'll happily read/play anything you create because it's just that good!
The gothic style of this particular story is perfect for me which is why it's my favourite. I am eagerly looking forward to whenever you are done with it. I'll be more than happy to pay for this quality product. Thank you PDRRook!
Thank you! <3 I am happy to hear that you enjoyed FMO! :D (I am glad the descriptions aren’t too bothersome. I am an enthusiast myself, so I love books with 123131 pages of nature descriptions etc, though I get why it might not be as interesting to everyone as it is to me haha.)
Don’t be sorry! And thank *you* again for reading and your feedback. I am in the middle of the last chapter right now, so I am tentatively hoping to release within the next 2-3 months, depending on how much free time I’ll have between work. I hope the full game will be worth the wait, regardless.
Hello I know this is a strange question to ask here but didn't know where else. I remember once on your tumblr you had a recommendation list for text based games. There was a category for each one as well and showed which were completed. I coudn't find it again, I was wondering if you could direct me to this list?
Not strange at all, no worries! I have several lists, so I am not sure which one is 'the one,' but you can check all of them [here]. It browses the 'recs' tag. Hope that helps!
This is amazing, oh my gosh. I love interactive games, and recently got back into playing them, this my first comment. I’d love to see more and eventually play the full game!
This was so good it actually made me write my first ever comment on itch. Loved the atmosphere (it has a gothic feel to it, my favorite genre), the music, the characters (their personalities are so diverse but I actually managed to love them all! wow!) I actually gaped at the cliffhanger, i'm sooo excited to read more and cannot wait! Will definitely buy it as soon as you release it:) My favorites (as of now) are definitely rez and mal<3 Keep up the good work!!
I enjoyed you game and will likely buy it once it's finished. But I really have to tell you about an issue I had with the game:
THIS CONTAINS SPOILERS:
When I started out, I got really frustrated that absolutely nothing about the world was explained. There was talk about the Overshadow, essence, ghosts - and it was not explained for a long time what those are. It sometimes felt more like a weird fever dream than a story. I was searching, if it was book two or got an explanation in the menu or it it's maybe an established universe that doesn't need explanation. Everything got explained eventually but much too late in the story. If you were going for "I don't explain anything and the reader should discover it themselves" unfortunately that didn't work out for me. This works best if the MC doesn't know as well, but here the MC has always been part of the world and knows what's going on, just the reader is kept in the dark. I will give you some points about what information would have been nice to have earlier (because I know as the author you know this and may lose focus about how it is for readers that know nothing):
What is the Overshadow? It gets explained when you are in the void (I think), which is much too late. I was asking myself if it's a fancy word for the Underworld and if all dead go there. But then why are there humans? How can a king sent troops there? Since it's a more abstract concept than Underworld, it needs explanation early on.
Essence/Chaos: I didn't have any idea for a long time what those are. The only explanation you get early about essence it locked behind the choice to make light in your room. I didn't do that the first playthrough. Than you get some when talking to Lotár about him wanting essence and that he has Chaos, but you have essece on mass. I still didn't know what those mean and was more confused than enlightened.
Ghosts. For me it was not clear for a long time that MC is a ghost. It did get mentioned that they died a first time. But really, that could mean anything. Did someone bring them back? Are they a zombie, did time get reversed, whatever. What does it mean to be a ghost, what does it look like? Are they shine-through? How can people instantly tell that you are a ghost?
Summoner: You get early on that MC is a summoner, but only later what that means. Also that you are and why you are special got explained later, but this is the leas issue for me.
I think a Glossary with explanation of those points would be enough to make the story much clearer. Or maybe in in-game explanation that is not only available with certain choices. Once you know what's going on, it's much easier to enjoy the game.
That said, I enjoyed the characters and played it with 3 different ROs so far. I hope to get more and looking forward for the whole thing.
first i just want to say that i love your story! i have a question though, the choice to explore the market with Saltire, is that a romantic choice and that's why i've gotten locked out of it or is it just another choice i made that's blocked it?
not me seeing rez, going 'oH YEAH that's the one!' and then :') ah ha ha!!!! AHHHHHH AHAHAHAHAH!!!!!! How many chapters will this end up being (cough, how much space is this going to occupy in my brain)??
5 chapters and the epilogues! I am currently in the middle of chapter 4, so I am hoping to have this game wrapped up later this year, though sadly I can’t promise anything.
Ohh, this is right up my alley 💛 The story, the charaters and the writing itself. I usually play IF on mute, because the sound distracts me from reading at times, but your BGM choice fits so well I can't possibly turn it off.
Thank you! I play on mute too, haha! :D But I figured that using the sounds/ambiance I like to listen to while I write might be a good (and not so distracting) idea, so I am glad to hear you enjoyed my selection as well.

God bless the plentiful save slots. I’m going to use the diff “1, 2, etc” save tabs for diff playthroughs. Wahoo!
Enjoy! :D
By the way, in the Saltire blood oath scene the word "forehead" is spelled as "horehead".

When all the changes in the script are fully coded and edited!

amazing I love Lotar so so much <3
Thank you! <3
This is absolutely amazing, I cannot WAIT to devour this as soon as it's fully out!!
Thank you! I'm wrapping up the last scenes rn, so I hope it won't take long :D
Mirren, and Rez have me in a chokehold. Really enjoyed what I’ve played so far and can’t wait for more.
Glad to hear you enjoyed yourself, and I hope the rest of the game will also be to your liking!

Okay, I've rambled enough. Thanks for playing!
I also absolutely adore Saltire, though I guess I do love all of them. Also thank you for your advice, heh, promise I'll treat Mal well. :)
Glad to hear you’re enjoying FMO! :D

Hey author,

Hi, player. I just added a glossary to the demo. You can access it at the start of the game or during by clicking on the book icon. Hope that helps!
can't wait for more.
One more chapter to go, and I’ll be ready to deliver!
i thirst for more.........
And I hope to soon be able to quench your thirst. 😊
I'm so in love with the world and characters!! Can't wait to see more <3
Thank you! I hope the rest of the game will also be to your liking :*
first i just want to say that i love your story! i have a question though, the choice to explore the market with Saltire, is that a romantic choice and that's why i've gotten locked out of it or is it just another choice i made that's blocked it?
Glad to hear it! And yes, the choice locks you in Saltire’s route, and it’s unlocked only if you’ve not already picked another RO earlier in game.
okay i was like nooo i want to explore the market! good to know, thank you!
I might expand on some scenes once the main script is written, so I’ll keep that in mind!
I literally love the story so much. It's realistic in terms of how people can be suspicious of one another. It's beautiful storytelling. Love it! ❤️
Thank you!
I miss this...
Me too! Hopefully I’ll be able to write and code more during my break from work. :D
not me seeing rez, going 'oH YEAH that's the one!' and then :') ah ha ha!!!! AHHHHHH AHAHAHAHAH!!!!!! How many chapters will this end up being (cough, how much space is this going to occupy in my brain)??

Ohh, this is right up my alley 💛 The story, the charaters and the writing itself. I usually play IF on mute, because the sound distracts me from reading at times, but your BGM choice fits so well I can't possibly turn it off.
